Constructing the Tohoku Plant

Factory Overview

The 150MW Tohoku Plant began commercial production on June 1st, 2016. It leverages Solar Frontier’s world-leading CIS R&D and latest mass-production technology - advanced production lines bearing the hallmark of the Atsugi Research Center. Improved manufacturing processes will enable the production of higher efficiency CIS modules at best-in-class cost levels. The Tohoku Plant will also serve as a blueprint for Solar Frontier’s future overseas manufacturing bases. The modularity of its new production lines will enable Solar Frontier to deploy new factories faster and more efficiently.
